Control and Safety System Macarretane Dam

Optieng conducted a study for the supply of a Safety Control System for the Macarretane Dam, according to the specific techniques for the Rehabilitation Works of the Macarretane Dam in the Gaza Province.
The Macarretane Dam is located on the main course of the Limpopo River, about 60 km downstream of the confluence (between the Limpopo River and the Elephants River), which aims at raising the water level of the river to feed the Eduardo Monlane Irrigation System (Chokwe) by gravity. This dam, constructed in 1955 with a storage capacity of 4 million m3, was constructed by a concrete structure approximately 650m long, which houses 39 locks operated from a centralized automatic control.
