Optieng affirms itself in the renewable energies sector by participating in the shutdown of the Celbi / EDP Bioeléctrica biomass plant.
The project involved the survey, development and functional tests of a security system, according to the following steps:
- Pre-Engineering: Study of unit functionality. Examination of functional safety routines. Preparation of algorithms, to be developed according to the surveys carried out. Study of the technological solution that best adapts to the problem of the client.
- Functional Safety Tests: Functional safety tests have been successfully performed on all SIFs of the unit.
Celbi is present in the biomass renewable energy sector through a joint venture (50% Celbi, 50% EDP) called EDP Bioeléctrica. This company holds licenses for the production of approximately 120 MWh of electricity, with two forest biomass production plants - Mortágua (9 MWh) and Ródão (13 MWh) - currently capable of operating in the national grid. 22 MW of electricity per hour.
The network of biomass plants that are licensed to EDP Bioeléctrica will have an annual production capacity of over 750 GWh and will prevent the emission of around 465 thousand tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.
